Prof. Michael Birnhack of the Faculty of Law at Tel-Aviv University studies, teaches and writes about intellectual property, and especially copyright law. His research covers issues such as the relationship between copyright and freedom of expression (his research on the topic is included in Nimmer on Copyright), fair use, ownership, and copyright history, as well as contributory infringement in patent law. His articles are often cited by Israeli courts. Birnhack is also the author of the Israeli chapter in Geller's International Copyright Law. His recent book, Colonial Copyright: Intellectual Property in Mandate Palestine was published by Oxford University Press in 2012.
